Annual Economic Outlook Breakfast 2014

IPAA was pleased to present the 2014 Annual Economic Outlook Breakfast with the Hon Tom Koutsantonis MP, Treasurer of South Australia on the 15th July 2014. 

This event follows Tom Koutsantonis’s delivery of the 2014-2015 Budget: his first as Treasurer. Tom Koutsantonis delivered an in depth discussion on the budget and its implications for South Australia’s future. Kim Cheater, Partner, PwC, lead the Treasurer through a discussion on the rationale, implications and outcomes of the State Budget. After the discussion the MC for the event, Erma Ranieri, IPAA President, and Commissioner for Public Sector Employment, facilitated a Q&A session that provided the audience with the opportunity to direct questions to the Treasurer. Tom Koutsantonis holds the seat of West Torrens in the House of Assembly and was first elected to the South Australian Parliament on 11 October 1997.

Born on 23 August 1971, Tom has lived in the western suburbs his entire life.

He attended Netley Primary School, Adelaide High School, and went on to study at the University of Adelaide, paying his way by driving a taxi. He then had to leave University before completing his degree to help run the family small business due to an illness in the family. He was later employed as an Industrial Officer for the Shop Distributive Allied Employees Association.

Tom enjoys cooking, gardening and watching both football codes. In particular, the Power - he is very much a one eyed Port Adelaide Football Club and Liverpool supporter.

He is very active in the local community as proud Member and Patriot of organisations and associations such as the St. George Orthodox Church, the Messinian Association, Joint Patron Henley and Grange Swimming Club Patron, Fulham Falcon Cricket Club, Underdale High School Council, and the Thebarton Senior College Council.

Tom's greatest love is his family - his wife Anthea and daughters Tia & Helena.

   

MC: Erma Ranieri, Commissioner for Public Sector Employment

In her role as Commissioner for Public Sector Employment, Office for the Public Sector, Erma oversees multiple sector-wide reform programs including Change@SouthAustralia, executive development and leadership, and developing a sustainable approach to workforce management.

The Office’s principal role is to ensure the South Australian public sector is led and managed in a way that adheres to the values and principles of ethical behaviour, fosters excellence in governance, leadership and collaboration with a performance culture that is efficient, adaptive and flexible to meet the needs of a changing society.

The Office will lead a cultural shift in the public sector, embedding the values across all government organisations to create a public sector that is more collaborative, innovative, and connected to the community.

Erma was elected President of IPAA (SA) in August 2012 and is currently the Chair of the Industry Advisory Board, Centre for Human Resource Management at UniSA.

Erma has more than 30 years’ experience, has published papers in management journals, and regularly presents at local and national events on organisational culture, values, change and leadership.
