White Ribbon Workshop Series - preventing violence against women

As part of the 2014 “Taking a Stand: responding to domestic violence” the Premier proposed that all South Australian Government departments obtain White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation.

The purpose of the White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation Project is to assist departments in recognising the negative impacts violence has on the health and safety of women at work, their wellbeing and productivity.

The workshops are being delivered as part of the accreditation process and are designed to:

  • increase staff’s knowledge about the issue of violence against women
  • link underlying attitudes and values to violence-supportive behaviours
  • identify strategies to prevent violence in the workplace
  • promote safe and respectful workplaces for all workers.

As a large employer, the South Australian public sector has the potential to contribute to the cultural shift required to reduce violence against women and promote gender equality.
