Data Sharing

South Australia is leading the nation in sharing data to improve Government policy making, program management and service planning and delivery. This session will explore the new Public Sector (Data Sharing) Act 2016 and how it can help public servants to use the wealth of data available to government in a safe and secure way.

Dr Tahnya Donaghy will outline the potential and the safeguards of the new data sharing legislation, before the South Australian Chief Data Officer, Peter Worthington-Eyre will take participants through an interactive look at how data sharing can and is being applied.

Peter Worthington-Eyre

Peter leads the South Australian Government's Office for Data Analytics and is also the state's Chief Data Officer.  He has spent most of his career in data and analytics, most recently leading innovative change in the reporting, analytics and actuarial teams at ReturnToWorkSA.  Peter has held a number of leadership roles in operations and analytics in both public and private sector and is passionate about improving businesses understanding, efficiency and customer service.

 

 

 

 

 

Dr Tahnya Donaghy
Deputy Chief Executive
Department of the Premier and Cabinet

Dr Tahnya Donaghy is a senior executive in the South Australian government. She is currently the Deputy Chief Executive of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, the government’s central policy agency. She has over ten year’s senior executive experience in government, predominantly working in the fields of health and social services. Her roles are focused on delivering solutions, leading negotiations and working with stakeholders on public policy matters and funding agreements. Prior to joining government Dr Donaghy was an academic in Australia and Northern Ireland.   

 

 

 

 

 

Ruth Ambler
Executive Director
Department of the Premier and Cabinet

Ruth has been in the SA Public Service for over16 years; most of those at Executive level.  Ruth is a proud public servant and is passionate about delivering public value in all its diverse forms. Ruth started her public sector career in human services policy, and has worked in a range of Departments, including the SA Dental Service, where she was General Manager, and the Courts Administration Authority, where she was the Director of Court Services (responsible for the Magistrates, Coroners and Youth Courts).   She is currently the Executive Director, Cabinet Office, in the Department of the Premier and Cabinet. Prior to working in Government Ruth worked for Oxfam for 10 years, and briefly for UniSA. Ruth has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.
