This training teaches you how to respond effectively during a mental health crisis or problem until professional help is available, following a practical, evidence-based Action Plan. Developed with input from individuals with lived experience and mental health professionals, this training ensures you are prepared and confident in offering support.

Here’s how it works:

  1. E-learning Access: Six weeks before your scheduled face-to-face session, you’ll receive an email with a link to the online learning material
  2. Complete the Online Module: Finish the e-learning module before attending the in-person session to qualify for accreditation.

Mental health crises covered are;

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Psychosis
  • Substance use disorder
  • Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
  • Non-suicidal self-injury
  • Panic attacks
  • Traumatic events
  • Severe psychotic states
  • Severe effects from alcohol or other drug use
  • Aggressive behaviour’s

Full Online Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Courses include two components:

  • Course Component 1 A self-paced eLearning component (takes 5-7 hours to complete)
  • Course Component 2 4 hour face-to-face session with a Breakthrough Research Foundation facilitator
