AI can help us work faster, but can it help us make better decisions? And how do we know when to trust AI and when to rely on human expertise?
Join Dr Duro Kolar for an interactive, 60-minute online Lunch & Learn exploring how AI can support better decision-making in the public sector.
This isn’t your typical AI webinar. Through practical problem-solving activities, real-world scenarios and small-group discussions, you’ll explore where AI adds value, where its limitations lie and why human judgement remains essential.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Explore AI’s potential to support better decisions and challenge assumptions.
- Put your thinking into practice through individual activities and collaborative discussions.
- Recognise when human judgement matters most, particularly when decisions require professional expertise, critical thinking and accountability.
Who Should Attend?
Public sector professionals working across policy, procurement, projects, administration and service delivery. Suitable for all levels of AI experience.
No technical knowledge or access to AI tools required.
You’ll leave with a practical approach to AI, knowing when to use it, when to question it and when human judgement should lead.

Kalvar
Dr Duro Kolar is the founder of Kalvar, where he helps organisations make better decisions on complex problems, using AI and evidence to inform, not replace, human judgement.
He holds a PhD examining the factors that influence organisational strategic decision-making and a master’s research degree focused on learning and artificial intelligence. His career spans government, defence, major infrastructure programmes and higher education.
Duro has taught at the University of Sydney and was a senior lecturer in the Leadership and Executive Education Group at Monash University's Business School. There, he applied a research-based learning approach that helped learners develop a deeper understanding of complex problems, recognise underlying patterns and apply what they learned to unfamiliar situations, rather than simply memorising solutions.
