IPAA SA in conjunction with the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and PwC held the 2019 Annual Economic Outlook Breakfast with the Hon Rob Lucas MLC, Treasurer of South Australia.

Each year IPAA brings in the new financial year with a discussion on the state budget and its implications for South Australia’s future. Kim Cheater, Adelaide Managing Partner, PwC, will lead the Treasurer through a discussion around the 2019-20 budget with the role of MC being undertaken by Erma Ranieri, Commissioner for Public Sector Employment, Office of the Commissioner for Public Sector Employment and IPAA SA President.

This event was followed by a Q&A session that provided delegates with the opportunity to question a panel of experts including the Treasurer.

The Hon Rob Lucas MLC

Treasurer of South Australia
Member of the Legislative Council

Born in Kure, Japan, in 1953 and raised in Mount Gambier, Rob Lucas was elected to the Legislative Council in the South Australian Parliament in 1982. Rob was appointed the Minister for Education and Children's Services in 1993 and became the Treasurer in 1997. He was later also appointed the Minister for Industry and Trade and the Minister for Government Enterprises. During the term of the former Liberal Government (1993 to 2002) he also served as Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council. Rob is currently the Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council, Treasurer, Minister responsible for the public sector and industrial relations.

Kim Cheater

Kim is a partner with PwC. His areas of expertise include cybersecurity, governance, risk management and internal audit. He is the former Managing Partner for Adelaide.
Kim has led PwC's Reconciliation efforts over the past 5 years. In that time, PwC and PwC Indigenous Consulting have achieved Elevate RAP status (one of only 19 businesses in Australia). Kim now co-chairs the National Reconciliation Governance Group.

He has been a leader in indigenous employment over many years and is an Ambassador to the Aboriginal Employment Industry Cluster Program in South Australia.
In 2020, Kim was recognised as a Distinguished Alumni by Flinders University for contribution to business in SA and to reconciliation.

Andrea Slattery

Geoff Rohrsheim

Geoff is a technologist who understands business. With an honors degree in Aerospace Engineering and further studies in IT and Engineering, he is a former EY Entrepreneur of the Year winner for the southern region and has had 3 start-ups appear in the BRW Fast 100. His most recent venture, Kloud Solutions (www.kloud.com.au) grew rapidly in 5 years to have over 170 staff with offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Manila. Kloud was ranked by BRW as the fastest growing company in Australia in 2014 and was the winner of Microsoft’s Australian Cloud Partner of the year in 2014 and the worldwide winner in the cloud productivity category in 2015. Kloud was sold to Telstra in Feb 2016. Geoff now shares his time between his own start-up ventures cevo.com.au, arinco.com.au and yourhealthi.com.au. A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, he is a non-executive director of Alcidion [ASX: ALC], Seeley International and Business SA (state chamber of commerce). He is a member of the South Australian Premier’s Economic Advisory Council, the Australia Post Stakeholder Council and an angel investor and advisory board member of various Adelaide based tech startups.
